The IIX
Chevy van covers the amateur bands from 160 to 432 mhz with a variety of
antennas, radios and amplifiers along with the a tv and kickass stereo system
thrown in to cover every electronic base. A thousand watts input on 10 thru 160
into a hustler antenna on one side and a screwdriver antenna on the other get
the job done. The radio is a Yeasu 847 supplying the drive and also the 100
watts on 6 and 2 meters while 432 is 50 watts. Horizontal squalo antennas on 6,
2, and 432 get the ssb job done while a triband vertical with a triplexer
handles the fm on these bands. a Yeasu dualband and amp completes the fm duties
and a small cb is also installed for road information. All the radios and tv are
mounted on one of the famous IIX mobile mounts that holds it all. This was a fun
mobile station, but like all vehicles, the truck lost its mind one day and it
had to be crushed.

12 ft tvro dish on 23cm / 1296 EME , 1000 watts transmit power 28 initial contacts since October 20, 2002 The IIX qth sports a variety of antennas from wire on 160 meters to stacked loop yagis on 2304 and now a dish on 1296 eme. Many hundreds of hours have been spent on the IIX tower sweating over the latest array while new ideas to improve the installation have been formed. These ideas have fueled the products that IIX makes for the amateur community. The IIX shack sports mostly Yeasu radios and homebrew amplifiers with a couple of miles of coax and wire to connect everything together. The station is state of the art computer controlled, thanks to my good friend, Roger, K9RB whose expertise led me through the maze of connections and window files. Many good time have been had in my 27 years of hamming in this tiny room with many friends made throughout the world, its a great hobby !
